Holy Saturday and Pascha at St. Anne Parish 2021

Message from Fr Baxter:

Good morning St. Anne Parish Family!

As you are already aware, the Public Health restrictions on religious gatherings remains in place for all of Ontario.

Sadly, we will not have Paschal Services in church again this year. I pray this never, ever, happens again.

Services are available, virtually, at the St. Volodymyr Cathedral, St. Demetrius Church in Etobicoke, St. John The Baptist Church in Oshawa and the Cathedral in Ottawa. Please refer to the parish’s websites to locate the times of services and links to You Tube or Facebook to participate.

We will serve our weekly Parish Fellowship and Coffee Hour at 12:00 noon on Pascha, followed by our Bethlehem Star Church School Pascha Concert at 2 p.m.

You will receive links for both of these events by e-mail.

I will be at St. Anne Church this Saturday May 1 between 12:00 noon and 2 p.m. to distribute bottles of Holy Water to any parish member who would like some to bless their Pascha Baskets at home on Sunday. Weather permitting, I’ll set up a small table outside, at the church’s main entrance. If it is raining, I’ll set up in the Narthex just inside the main entrance.

Please remember, of course, the usual Public Health protocols:

  • Wear a mask when you arrive
  • One person per household only, please!
  • Keep the 2-meter distance between people

When we begin our Fellowship at 12:00 noon on Pascha, I will sing the Paschal Tropar followed by prayers to bless our food. When the prayers are completed, please bless your own baskets at home (use a small clean basting brush or dessert spoon and bless three times).

With my prayers for you all this Holy Pascha and with much hope that we can resume services in church as soon as possible.

Fr. C Baxter
